Day 37 – Roll Tide

I love high school sports. Some of my best memories from high school are from the four years I played varsity basketball. There is something special that happens when you belong to a team. High school sports hold a special place in my heart. The ladies I played with will forever be part of those memories.

Luna is my last hope for a basketball player. Mia’s heart belongs to the pool and Kendal loves soccer. I am glad my kids found sports they love (even if I knew nothing about them).

Mia learned to swim at the Galax Rec Center. Coach Trace had her racing across the pool at age 4. He encouraged her and pushed her and helped shape her into the swimmer she is today. Trace also played a big part in getting a high school and middle school swim team at Galax Schools. Mia loves Galax and loves the sport. She can’t wait to represent her school when she is old enough.

The Galax Maroon Tide Swimmers will be heading to regionals tomorrow. Many of the kids have been swimming with Mia for years and some since she was four. To support them, and for my act of service for today, we dropped off a case of water and Gatorade for them to take to the competition tomorrow. We believe in our school and the swim team. This Maroon Tide (formally known as Galax Riptide) team is where Mia first learned to swim and where her roots are planted. We will be forever loyal and thankful for what Coach Trace, his family and the team have done for us!! This is just one way to show our love and support as they head off to the regional meet.

Take some time to support local sports. Sponsor a kid, bring snacks to a game, cheer on someone you know. Lift eachother up and help our kids chase their dreams!!
